Thank you for all of your prayers and support! Our trip to Costa Rica was a tremendous blessing to both our team as well as to the churchwe were able to work alongside. Together we served by constructing a new church and by leading backyard Bible school for children.

Costa Rica

On July 19th, 2008 we will be sending a team of 17 students and 5 leaders from our congregation to serve in Costa Rica. Our team of 22 will spend 10 days working with Horquestas de Sarapiqui Alliance Church. This church is a Christian and Missionary Alliance Church that was recently planted about four years ago. The church is beginning construction on their first building beginning in April and our team will be one of several teams who help to build the church building. The church already has the land which is centrally located in the city and they are ready to build! This project is located about 2 hours outside of San Jose. Our team will do both construction work as well as contact evangelism and ESL teaching. We will have the opportunity to work with the local people and build relationships with them as well as help with ESL conversations, one-on-one, to help the English students improve their English and also to draw in more contacts for the church.

Our team will be working with  Pastor Rodrigo and his wife Haydee who have developed different ministries for the people of the region. There are many problems of drug addiction and family abuse within the surrounding community and Pastor Rodrigo and Haydee use their training as counselors to minister to the people in their church and local community.

We also will be working with Chuck and Robbi Fanberg, CMA missionaries who served in Peru for a number of years before moving to Costa Rica where they currently serve.

Quote of the Week

“A God whom we could understand exhaustively, and whose revelation of Himself confronted us with no mysteries whatsoever, would be a God in man’s image, and therefore an imaginary God, not the God of the Bible at all.”
